Enjoy our New Year’s Events – Did you know that January 14 is the New Year for Some?

Did you know? January 14 is celebrated as the actual New Year for Some around the the World?

Definitely we will get back to clarify that question related to January 14, 2026 that is celebrated as the New Year for some people around the world.

But, we also would like to share with you photos and feedback from the many New Year’s events filled with activities, all centered here in Burlington in December 2025 and January 2026; and all with volunteers from Sahaja Yoga Meditation Network team of volunteers. Many from our team were already vacationing – they very well deserved it! Others, were hosting visiting family members, but a few were still able to keep the Joy Giving in our community, and as you could see, the Joy was Present!

We offered several New Year Celebrations already in the Halton region All Free and Open to All

We are sharing a few photos with You from our New Year Events celebrated just before and after Jan 1st

Everyone considers that the New Year celebrates changes and time to refresh for New Beginnings in life. Usually we reflect on the milestones from the year that is about to leave, while hoping for the best when the New Year arrives.

Let us listen to the wise words coming from Shri Mataji – the founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation – who said the following about the New Year:

“When the New Year begins, at that time some new thing, new concept, new understanding awakens within the human being. That happens spontaneously.

Whoever has brought the idea of the New Year must have been a great visionary that on such an occasion a new enthusiasm, a new thought, a new movement should be awakened symbolically in a human being.”

We had several celebrations, some quite intimate and cozy in our homes, with family around but also as wellness seminars with those that come regularly to our Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes (they feel like family too!), and others were made public, for whoever had the need to meditate and enjoy before the New Year!

We even had The Burlington’s Santa visiting one of our our New Year Sahaja Yoga Meditation Seminar celebrations in Halton region and He had a great time with us:

We danced a lot around the New Year and had lots of Fun!

We enjoyed several yummy potlucks and we made new friends!

The truth is that we felt Really Blessed for Celebrating an Amazing Year with Good People

It was really nice to have these “New Year” related community events, despite the very cold and challenging Canadian winter time, the warmth of hearts and the peacefulness of minds, the laughter and the fun, created memorable moments for all present’

Enjoy a Collection of Photos from our January’s New Year events that celebrated also the Old Orthodox New Year as well the Makar Sankranti or the Pongal Festivals on January 14 2026

Did you know? For some people around the world their New Year starts in January: for example the Serbians celebrated it on January 14. Also, various South-Asian populations celebrate their New Year year during the Makar Sankranti or Pongal festivals that start on January 14, or on January 15 if it’s a leap year.

Our team of volunteers is comprised of Canadians that have a variety of origins, therefore we love creating multicultural events that share and celebrate our diversity, for everyone’s benefit; this time the Makar Sankranti Festival was in the focus.

We learned about the Subtle energy system, we meditated and uncovered beautiful traditions of gratefulness, sharing, being collective, respecting the animal (all living beings), the joy of being generous and sweet with each other.

We hope that you can feel the Love in the Air! At our previous event on January 11 in Burlington, we also had two puppies joining the events. Their human Dad, respectively Mom were very proud of how well-behaved they were, as we were all basking in the positive energy that filled the room! We also enjoyed a surprise Birthday Cake and a Sahaj Guru Game Presentation!

The most recent community gathering was on Sunday in Burlington, the first larger one this year and it was perfectly aligned with Halyna’s Sahaj Guru Game presentation . It was about the Vishuddhi chakra – the energy center that is so profoundly about Collectivity, relationships, the way we talk and behave to each other, and also the way we value our Self-respect.

For the New Year in December 2025 somebody brought a Birthday cake, while on January 11, when we learned about the Sun energy during the Makar Sankranti event, Halyna baked an amazing cake, resembling the Sun. We listened to Shri Mataji talking about the importance of Meditation: we should be “serious about it” as well that we should “meditate everyday”.

See how attentively Oscar (Sarah’s pet and ours now!) is listening to the presenters! He meditates weekly also collectively!

Everyone was Grateful for starting this New Year in such a beautiful and positive way!

Let us Remind You that Today is the New Year for many and You can join us for our last Makar Sankranti Event, this time in Oakville for a Deep Guided Meditation and Presentation

We hope to see you in person today and also for those that have joined us for the last year since we launched the new format for the Oakville evening Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes (always free and open to all), check your email inbox, if you are ready we will invite you this weekend to a private Going Deeper Seminar focused on the Vibratory Awareness.

We say Good Bye to You with a few more photos, also a video-clip (proof that we were dancing quite a lot at our New Year celebrations), and with Articles & Experiences related to Makar Sankranti, for You to Learn, Meditate & Enjoy

We gathered for the Shakti Group Photo with all the Ladies to contributed to the Collective Potlucks that were Abundant with Love and Generosity; we even had two different pots of soups, also the traditional Pongal sweet meal, amazing aromatic herbal teas and healthy appetizers

We wish You All, Again and Again: Happy New Year! Watch the Video-Clip:

Thank you dear Ioana for enlightening us on the importance of Makar Sankranti as shared by Shri Mataji, and for reminding us of the Sun’s life-giving power, Saraswati’s strength, and the loving energy of Shakambari Devi. These elements are deeply woven into our daily lives. Through the Sun’s subtle power, nature flourishes and spreads joy. Let us rejoice in and be grateful for Shri Mataji’s blessings.
