This Free Children Meditation Workshop inspires Meditation-centered Creativity during the March break

Let’s realize how a Children Meditation Class can inspire ‘Meditation-centered’ Creativity

This clay creation belongs to a child that tried our 100 Seeds of Joy “Clay Meditation” workshop on March 15, 2024 during the March break

Please take a closer look to the image above. This little chick is a meditative one!

A little boy created it right after a special meditation experience.

His mom brought him on March 15 to this Free “Cool Kids and Parents” type of workshop offered at Central Library because they joined other similar creative sessions offered in Burlington by our 100 Seeds of Joy team where they enjoyed the experience every single time.

The Jedi Boy created a Clay Robot that Meditates

In fact this little boy attended a few of our “Cool Kids and Parents” sessions across Burlington, and each time he really enjoyed our meditation session. We told his Mom that he is a little yogi, we can even whisper that he is maybe a Jedi boy?!

Either way, among other clay creations we noticed he made a Clay Robot and, based on our interview with his creator, the Clay Robot also can meditate. Therefore, I call it as a possible solution to any future AI threat. :-). Wouldn’t be a perfectly harmonious world if even Robots love to Meditate? Some food crumbles for thought … or to meditate upon.

Our team of volunteers from 100 Seeds of Joy community initiative continues to offer at least monthly a variety of “Cool Kids and Parents – Meditation and Creativity” programs for the Halton families. About 18 years ago we started volunteering in Burlington, then in Oakville’s schools, kindergartens, and anywhere we were asked to offer simple and effective workshops that will introduce the children and their caregivers (teachers or parents) to the benefits of meditation.

Finding inner peace, joy, self-confidence and a sense of serenity is much needed today as always. Not only in adults, but in children too.We are glad that our workshops continue to be in demand across the Halton region and beyond.

We always enjoy collaborating with a variety of community partners and we are delighted how successful this particular program was, offered in partnership with the wonderful Burlington public library team.

For this program about 25+ children, parents and grandparents registered but we were told that we had un fact about 30 participants. We started with everyone sitting on the floor and following aunty Kathleen’s guided meditation that allowed also a playful interaction with the kids.

The unbelievable was achieved with this large group of ad-hoc meditators: moments of pure silence followed by joy!

The room was ready to welcome the participants to our Free Meditation and Creativity Workshop for Cool Kids, Friends, Parents and Grandparents

After the guided meditation session our team of volunteers encouraged everyone to follow their inspiration, as well the adults were advised to allow the children to do whatever they wanted to, as well to listen to their inner child and create as well.

We helped everyone with whatver they needed and had the joy of seeing everyone truly enjoying themselves!

It was truly rewarding to hear that both adults and children enjoyed the meditation. Kids would come to us to say Thank You multiple times :-). Most participants never tried meditation before. Definitely not in this format offered by 100 Seeds of Joy.

100 Seeds of Joy Team for March 15: Isabelle, Ioana, Kathleen and Kruti (from left to right). We had so much joy to meditate with such Cool Kids, Parents and Grandparents. We also had a chance to chat with everyone and realize in 1:1 conversations, that every single participant appreciated our workshop.

Something truly amazing was to see that both children and adults had the theme of “meditation” still very much within themselves during the playful creativity session that followedthe guided meditation,

We noticed the following outstanding instances:

1. A child created out of clay a meditation place in which somebody was meditating;

2. Another kid’s mom created her own ‘meditation space’ out of clay.

3. Another mother created a clay family (parents and children) enjoying their safe pace; it was honouring the theme of a loving collectivity that we also addressed in the guided meditation session.

I was very fortunate to be part of this program that facilitated kids and parents/ guardians to meditate and be creative with clay moulding. Kids were super attentive and quiet during the meditation. They were so joyful and enthusiastic after the meditation was over that just in half an hour they created beautiful and meaningful figures. We hope to reach out to many more kids through this type of opportunity. A big thank you to the individuals who helped in this event.
