Spiritual Martisor: A Free Women’s Day Celebration offered by the 100 Seeds of Joy initiative

Poster created by Halton Sahaja Yoga Meditation Network team for this event celebrated in Orchard

In fact this event was a special Saturday seminar to honor International Women’s Day as well the Mărțișor Festival (an Eastern European/Romanian tradition) with spiritual connections to the Universal Feminine Power. As we included in the program a mini art crafting session where everyone could make their own Mărțișor on the spot and bring it home ( keep it or gift it to somebody else). It was much appreciated!

Thank you Kathleen (click to discover Kathleen’s story!) for all your creativity and help!

We created Spiritual Martisors on the spot for all participants, a Gift for Women’s Day

Martisor created on the spot – honoring also the founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation: Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi.

Shri Mataji talks aboout Women’s Subtle Role in the World

“Now women have to understand they are women because they are compassionate, they are forbearing.”

” You are like this Mother Earth who has to give everything beautiful.”

Photo from Ioana (Mexico, 2024)

“All these flowers, from where do they come? All these trees?

This Mother Earth looks so simple.

But what She gives us, look at that. Look at those beautiful things.”

Photo captured in Mexico (from Ioana).

“You must know you are the emotions, you are the desires of the whole world.

You are so important, without you nothing can start.”

“It is for you to save [the world], with your wisdom and innate love.”

“So many things you can achieve as a woman.

For that you have to know few things:

a) how to express your pure love to others; b) how to express your genuineness to others”.

The above bolded text in quotes represent quotes from Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – the founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation and a great-great-grandmother herself. She provided a talk during the second day of“The Role of  Women” seminar on June 19th, 1988 at Shudy Camps in Cambridgeshire, UK.

It was beautiful to notice that we have mostly women that felt to join the event, and they thoroughly enjoyed the ad-hoc created sisterhood. We started of course with a guided meditation, more participants kept coming and the energy filled the room.

By the end of the meditation we shared in silence a simple energy boosting workshop; everyone felt how beneficial it was!

The last ladies that closed the Spiritual Martisor event..

We enjoyed the Quotes from Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi that were shared in printed format along with the Martisor.

In fact each of us received ‘the perfect one’ for one’s personal situation.

Photo of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi — with a traditional and hand crafted Romanian table cloth used to bring an Eastern European touch in decorations.

Somebody commented that ‘everything came together’, even the tullips had matching colours wih the crown made of flowers.

We also shared very joyful Romanian folk dances and songs, as well various universal symbols that can be found in Spring related festivals from the Eastern Europe. The Romanian Martisor tradition was also explained at length, and if you are interested in further details, please explore the following link and in the video offered by the end of the article,

Last ones standing 🙂 (after the potluck quite a few left) so we started to wrap-up the event.

We also learned more about the Femine Powers (Shaktis) placed within our Chakra System

Our Potluck was wonderful, as it always is!

Enjoy a few more Martisors from that day:

We offered this event – Spiritual Martisor – to celebrate the Divine Feminine on International Women’s Day with Meditation, Chakra Workshop and Romanian Traditions. As promised to our participants, below they can find the full video about the Divine Feminine, from which we selected some slides during our program. Enjoy!

We have so much to learn from other cultures and traditions. This is something that will bring us together and closer to each other. Making Martisors and sharing it with others is one of my favourite activities. We were travelling and missed to attend this beautiful event celebrating Martisor and Women’s day, but the article captured these precious moments. I enjoyed all the pics and quotes. Thank you.
