Let’s find out How were the Seeds of Joy planted in that Backyard last Saturday?
Isabelle and Anjali are telling us about their 100 Seeds of Joy Workshop of Sahaja Yoga Meditation offered on Saturday of July 19, 2025
Before we listen to Anjali and Isabelle’s reporting on their meditation workshop we are glad to tell you that our Sahaja Yoga Meditation Network of Halton volunteers is offering such “Backyard Meditations” since we launched the 100 Seeds of Joy Community Initiative in 2023 — with the Proclamation of Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Day in Burlington on March 21st.
We’ve been Cultivating Seeds of Joy all around the Halton region, especially in Burlington and Oakville, but our team started being invited to offer “Backyard Meditations” also in Mississauga, Milton, Etobicoke, Markham and Hamilton.
It seems that we will reach also Niagara region this summer! You can reach out to us as well if interested!
How we ended up offering this particular Seeds of Joy chakra meditation workshop for a lovely group of African-Canadian Women?
This year our SYMN – 100 Seeds of Joy team received the great honour of being invited to the great 100 milestone celebration of the Burlington Lions and with that special occasion we met wonderful people! The Burlington Lions love to help people and feel to serve our community with the same urgency and genuine involvement as do our Cultivators of Joy. Plus we all seem to be the same bees-y :-).

At our dinner table, we met a lovely couple. Soon we realized we are immigrants from different parts of the world. Phoebe is originally from Africa and one of the youngest Burlington Lions!
Together we enjoyed the special guest musicians that performed for this special event – who happened to be also our friends that joined from the Netherlands to support our New Beginnings 5-day marathon of free music-yoga-meditation events around Yoga Day, across Burlington and Hamilton areas, with the occasion of our SYMN team’s 20 year anniversary in Burlington.
As we shared ‘why are we there’ and ‘what do we do’ , we realized that there is a lovely opportunity for a group of African-Canadian women who were planning an event on Saturday July 19, to try our 100 Seeds of Joy wellness workshop.
Talking to Phoebe, she invited us to that event that was to be held in her own backyard!
Her group of women never tried such a wellness workshop, we briefly chatted at the table about the format, and we were both excited of this New Beginning – a spontaneous collaboration born during the celebration of a history of service in our community! I remember the great atmosphere created by the wonderful live music and Lions’ hearted speeches.
Let’s hear from Anjali sharing her experience from the 100 Seeds of Joy’s Backyard Meditation
“Isabelle and I were warmly welcomed in Phoebe’s beautiful backyard that was filled with fresh flowers spreading a gentle and sweet fragrance.
We had the opportunity to meet such lovely ladies, youth and children in this gathering of family and friends.
I felt at home in a way. I very much appreciated the openness and friendliness.”

“We all gathered in a circle to meditate.
We right away asked everyone to press on their Sahasrara energy center (the Crown chakra) and I could feel the rising of the Kundalini energy immediately.
I was so surprised at the response of their inner energy.
I felt goosebumps in my Sahasrara chakra. “

“I asked them if they felt something and some absolutely did…so then we started the meditation after explaining a little bit about the subtle energy / sahaja yoga’s chakra system.
They were so sincere and attentive.
One young girl who was sitting on the ground shared how she felt like an energy jumping up… she was relaxed but then felt joyful all of a sudden...some were a little confused what they felt but wanted to continue so we continued with a second part where we went a little deeper.
After participants opened their eyes I could see such transformation on their faces.
They were calmer and looked so much more settled.“
Isabelle ended with a beautiful bandhan (protection technique that is self-energy based) and a song that we use for the Cool Kids & Parents classes that’s about the Mother Earth’s energy reflected within us as the Kundalini energy, rising towards the Sky and connecting us all.
“We then had another beautiful moment of silence. Everyone feeling the oneness.
One of the ladies shared how balanced she felt and that she really enjoyed the meditation.
Thank you Phoebe for opening your home and through you, your friends and yourself were able to have an experience of something precious and meaningful – that is the true Self.“
Let’s listen now to Isabelle’s feedback about this Summer Experience of Seeds of Joy being Cultivated in One’s Backyard
What impressed me was the hostess.
We came into her backyard and it was an oasis of yellow and pink flowers inviting her guests.

She made a beautiful retreat for her friends of family to recharge and have a spa day.
A beautiful day to take care of her friends and she invited us to led a meditation to end the perfect day.
How thoughtful of her to share her experience with those around her.
She felt that this meditation was beneficial and self care.
What an ultimate gift she was giving to her friends.
She wanted to share with everyone and asked her friends how it was at the end.
Her concern of the well being of her friends touched me.
It was a Sisterhood of Sharing and Enjoying.

We hope you’ve enjoyed and felt that you were there with Anjali, Isabelle, Phoebe – the Sisterhood.
Ioana’s personal story about all this: it’s again about the Connection we All Share and about the Importance of these Seeds
A Seeds grows with No sound but a Tree falls with huge noise.
Destruction has noise, but Creation is quiet.
This is the Power of Silence..
Grow Silently.
Says Confucius – who we learn about as being one of the Primordial Masters, well respected by yogis.

Something that I strongly believe in, also because it is experienced all the time, and I never get tired of: the serendipity and all the connectiveness that it is played like a drama in front of your eyes while you are also acting in it!
Anjali and Isabelle sent me their experiences a few days ago via emails.
On the same Saturday, I was traveling through our beautiful Canada, enjoying new places and people and of course, taking photos (some of them are shared in this article).
However, we remained in contact with each other as our SYMN team was contributing to two events that day.
In fact both Anjali and Isabelle helped first with the multicultural festival event in Burlington — where our Sahaja Yoga Meditation booth became very popular!
From there, they went to Phoebe’s event in Mississauga, then returned to the Burlington Festival and helped their volunteer friends from 100 Seeds of Joy team who were getting busy with offering meditation and yoga workshops all day long!

This Connection and Sisterhood we Share led this Article from Start to End
All photos exploring nature and art shared in this article are personal and without you knowing it, we brought to you little pieces from homes and gardens from across 1/2 of Canada. The circle of life!

Even though I had these two stories for almost a week, I did not get a chance to actually read them – definitely not thoroughly!
When I started the article, as always the first image matters, I felt to select that image (yes, please go and take a look at it again!) before even getting to Isabelle’s story.
Either way, I felt to obey to this internal push to “decorate” Anjali’s letter mostly with photos that captured yellow and pink flowers, as well with my beloved daisies.
Then, I started working on Isabelle’s letter, only to realize what she said in it about Phoebe’s place:
“We came into her backyard and it was an oasis of yellow and pink flowers inviting her guests.”
That is exactly the image that welcomed You into this article, inviting you as a guest to explore it!
and of course, take part in Isabelle and Anjali’s 100 Seeds of Joy “Sahasrara” experience that day.
Allow me to share Quotes of “Sahaja Yoga Meditation” Wisdom about Sisterhood that You might Enjoy 🙂
If you understand that brotherhood and sisterhood is love which is very pure.
There is no expectation. It’s just love. It’s giving love and taking love.
Keep together. Love each other. Understand them. Love not of mesmerism, but of freedom.
In freedom you must love each other.
I never take away your freedom, that’s one thing, whether you fall or rise.
First thing is for your freedom. That is the thing on which you are going to move. “
(the above was an excerpt from Shri Mataji’s lecture for yogis gathered to celebrate the Diwali Festival and meditate on its subtle meaning – Nov 9, 1980 in Hampstead, UK)
Another Quote in which we go Deeper and rise Higher:
“The Spirit has the power to cure you also when it is connected through this Kundalini to the Divine.
It cures you completely, you feel very healthy and all the time you feel very fresh.
You do not run after things like – (let’s say a) manufacturer starts something – now today this dress, tomorrow that dress, today this.. Nothing of the kind. You don’t run amuck, you have discretion. You know what to wear, what to use; That’s how you solve your ecological problem. Because a new dimension also comes into your awareness, which we call as Collective Consciousness but also you become an universal being because Spirit is universal. So you don’t worry about yourself only – you worry about the whole Universe; Worry in the sense that you want to do something about it.
Immediately your attention will go to something that’s happening now and you’ll try to think and pray that, “This should be alright,” and it works out. You definitely become a much wider personality. It’s not only limited to one little person but it is a universal thing. .. which encompasses all the principles of all the religions, all the people of the world and you go beyond these wrong ideas of different religions and races and this and that.
You just start feeling you are part and parcel of the whole. It’s not, again, thinking, it’s the feeling.
Thinking can be temporary but feeling is permanent and not emotional but it is the feeling on your Central Nervous System.
It’s such a relationship of brotherhood and sisterhood develops because this is a Universal being which is enlightening your whole life and you are completely changed. You are surprised at yourself.
Your temper, your greed, your lust – all these things absolutely drop out and you see clearly, what is your need, what you need to be spiritually alright – you seek your comfort of your Spirit.
You become extremely dynamic, extremely creative and extremely compassionate.”
