“You have to become Lighthouses! So that people see you, you stand out, a light! See, like that you have to be; for that, you have to have self-discipline.“ Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi
Let’s Take a Meditative Stroll through the following Compilation with Inspired Quotes of Wisdom
We might learn a few things from these quotes, hopefully they will elevate our attention and open our hearts and minds.
In fact, we might get a chance to know ourselves better, and recenter our trust in the ideals that are embedded within.
Let’s understand the Importance of Self-Respect and of the Bondage of Love between us All
“One type of mental troubles are where people oppress you very much – you go on bearing the cross!
Now this is a very wrong idea people have about Christ. Bearing the cross doesn’t mean that, anybody who tries to oppress, you should go on taking the enslavement upon yourself. You’re not to enslave to anyone whatsoever.
Anybody who tries to make a slave out of you, you should deny it absolutely! You should say ‘hum’, ‘I am’, “Who are you to dominate me?”
Anyone whether you are of a black skin, or a red skin or a yellow skin, nobody has right to dominate anyone in this whole world, and if anybody is doing it, “Oh what to do now, after all we are poor people, or we are like this or he’s supporting,” and all that: then they are running away from their duty towards themselves. ‘
“These habits have come to them because they were seeking and they went deep down into that seeking. In that seeking they took to ..” (addictions).
“So many people have been helped in Sahaja Yoga. It is for your help. First you are enlightened, a light is created.
But light is not created to put under the table. You have to show light to others.
A day will come when you will be the Lighthouses, saving ships after ships and loads and loads of people. That should happen to you. Why should it not? Because innately you are that beautiful store of energy, innately you are that great creation of God which is above all the creations.
So it should happen to all of us. This is the hope I have and I hope I will have this hope all through and you are not going to fail me in this.
The Nature is working it out, your Kundalini is working it out but you have to also work it out.
Have patience with yourself. Work it out. Put yourself in proper places. Adorn your seats, we can say, or as they say, the throne of your Spirit. Adorn it. And that would definitely help you so that you can help the Divine and fulfil whatever is required of you.”
“I said that you must have patience with yourself and patience with others. Then the courage.
Courage is very important, without courage, you cannot do Sahaja Yoga.
And the third is wisdom, which gives you discrimination, discreet behaviour. These three things.
You have to ask for these three things from the Divine so that you are helped.“
Public Program. Caxton Hall, London (UK), 20 July 1981.

You might enjoy meditating on the “Lighthouse” symbolism with the following samples collected from a few of Shri Mataji’s Lectures on Sahaja Yoga Meditation
“I do understand that you are free people, to do what you like, but in your freedom you have to realize and decide that this is the light we have got, this has to be made into a beacon, not just a light. A tinted light like that; what’s the use?
We have to be like a beautiful tower of light. Like a lighthouse!
And everybody should work it out within and without.
Whenever it is possible, try to attend all that is collective; try to be there, where there is collective happenings.
There, where it is collective, this source of energy flows better.
Excerpt from a Diwali Puja Talk, “Power of Innocence” in Lecco (Italy), on October 25th, 1987.
“There are those big lighthouses on the sea, unless you become like that, of what use is our Sahaja Yoga?!”
Excerpt from a Welcome Talk in India International Yoga Tour in Alibag (India) on December 13, 1987.
How beautiful is this “Becoming a Lighthouse and Walking to the Lighthouse” Theme for a Yogi!
Shri Mataji said the following during a Public Program in New Delhi, India on March 18th, 1979:
“Nobody lights a lamp and keeps it under a chair, isn’t it?
“These lamps should be lit and Lighthouses should be made out of them, so that others who are searching for their way, may take to the right path and reach the shore.
Now I have to tell you a little about what should be done, what should not be done.
First of all, we should first find out about ourselves, what kind of habits do we have?
It’s straightforward, because the first thing is to see oneself.”

Let’s continue Exploring a few more Inspiring Quotes and Photos on this Special Theme
Most of these inspiring quotes were meant for people who already have the discipline to practice sahaja yoga meditation. However, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – the founder of sahaja yoga meditation – always had the attention on the evolutions and the wellbeing of the whole world. Therefore, many a times we recognize her request to sahaja yogis to care and support other people, those that struggle with mental and emotional stress or with addictions.
Patience, Concern, Perseverance: All should be Included into the Walking to one’s Lighthouse
“You have to have patience, you have to do it again and again.
Now this we have been confronting many a times.
But the whole approach should be of tremendous patience, as I said, of tremendous concern about them.
These people have gone to that extreme also because nobody has any concern.
After a certain limit, people just give them up. That’s how they are lost.“
“Maybe a person who is emotionally very disturbed from childhood, he has a left side problem. Like he had no mother, or the mother was very severe or a step-mother. Or he has had a very bad time with his wife. Or he had an emotional problems, he suffered a lot. All such people you see, sort of, resign in life ..When they cannot bear it more, because it’s an escape, it’s an arrangement made by nature itself, so that you do not face it. And our only duty is to raise their right side and put it to the left side and raise their Kundalini [energy], which gives them the realization by which the vital energy start flowing into him and he can feel alright.
This is a very, very important thing which can be done.“
Public Program in Caxton Hall, London (UK), on July 20th, 1981.

Our Reading Walk to the Lighthouse will conclude by Meditating with the Last Few Advices on How to proceed with our Horse called ‘Mr. Mind’
“Now this mind of yours, is like a horse, and this horse rides on you. You know how to ride on the horse.
In Sahaja Yoga, you can control your mind in such a way that you could never have done it before.
If you had tried it earlier, you would have developed deformities. If you suppress the mind, you don’t know what could happen to you. Now you tell the mind ‘Mister, go on the right path.’
Because now you have become an expert, now you know how to ride the horse. When the horse(mind) knows that now you have learned the skill, he trots in a straight way, then the horse itself takes you to the right place. So this horse should neither be let to fall nor tortured. It should be told ‘Mister, you know where I have to go, please take me there.’
Now you should start seeing yourself as a witness, that whoever this Mr. X is, just consider, ‘watch this Nirmala, the obsession She is developing’.
The one who starts laughing at himself and starts watching himself, becomes great in Sahaja Yoga.
He laughs at himself, that ‘From where this horse of ego came in me, now how can I get rid of it, how is this bed bug is biting me’.
In this way he removes himself(away). Because now there is light inside.
As soon as there is light inside, you start seeing your chakras (subtle energy centers), you can’t see them with your eyes, but these can be felt on the hands.“
In Sahaja Yoga, you have come out of the water and are in the boat.
But now if you want to again get down into the water, then go, because freedom is the prasad (divine gift) of Sahaja Yoga, you are completely free. You become so free that you will get rid of all your habits, you will be free from whatever had enslaved you, but if you want to get stuck in there, then you may go, you have the freedom for that also. And then you go down with a great force. the higher a man has risen, he falls down with the same strong force. That’s why one has to be very careful. In this matter, there is nothing to be afraid of. Even about Sahaja Yoga, you don’t need to tell anyone forcefully or in an egotistical way at all. If you see a man is like that, slowly you can tell him(about it). You can flourish your invaluable thing(Sahaja Yoga). But be very careful and wise, talk to people (about it).
Now one thing you must always remember is that there is a cool breeze coming in our hands – this is undeniable, there is no doubt about it. And it has been described by Adi Shankaracharya and others have also talked about it. If you have to read the Bible, then I have told you that it is in John’s revelations, that cool breeze comes out of the Holy Ghost, it is described in all of the Bible. And in all our books, it is written about Cool Breeze, there is nothing new about it. Don’t forget this. This is a great truth. It is a subtle thing, and you must understand how wrong it would be to lose it. You must not lose it. Many people will experience that the Kundalini will go to places where you have weaknesses. Just consider, if you have a liver trouble, then the Kundalini will go down into the liver, no problem in that. The people at the center (Sahaja Yogis) are quite adept, you should ask them, ‘this is happening to me, what should I do.’
They will tell you how to take vibrations and nourish yourself.
You don’t have to renounce your home, no need to renounce anything.
The need is to get into the essence of everything. You do not have to give up any religion either.
Whatever religion you belong to, keep following that religion. Although after realization you go beyond religion..”
This Article became like a Motherly Letter of Love and Compassion
Let’s have the Final Quote from a Letter sent by Shri Mataji to a Yogi in 1970, asking to be shared with Everyone
“You should understand a simple principle.
Lighthouses do not show light to themselves even for a moment.
Therefore, they are considered so important and are looked after.“

Thank you Ioana ☺️ The message of patience, courage, wisdom and compassion is so touching in this article. In a world where so many people are searching for direction and peace, becoming a little lighthouse for someone else can be such a beautiful act of love.
Looking forward to walking together, meditating together, and carrying that light a little further
Amazing photos and beautiful Article! The connection made to the light house with different excepts of Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, is very inspiring. So much to learn and so much to imbibe. I am looking forward to attending this event and be part of the community for mental health and awareness. See you there!
