Lavinia’s early memories of experiencing Sahaja Yoga Meditation as a child

Let’s follow Lavinia as she is taking us through her childhood in Romania, her perception of Sahaja Yoga Meditation and experience meeting Shri Mataji – the founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation. We will have the privilege of “witnessing” the special gift she received there and then: a vision of Lord Ganesha – the God of Innocence, the Remover of Obstacles, the Principle of Purity that fills the Universe. I was 10 years old, and I’ve loved animals since I can remember, couldn’t eat the chickens from my grandparents’ country farm because I grew up with those chickens, they were my friends. 

In the city, as an only child, I was left in the care of my parents’ friend while my parents had to go to work. This friend had a daughter exactly my age, maybe a few days apart. That’s when the magic started for me. 

It was Bucharest in the early ’90s and this friend was burning incense in her apartment, all the books she had around were so colorful and shiny and beautiful and full of knowledge about a lot of Indian deities and we as kids were allowed to touch anything, to flip through the books, to touch her beautiful orange golden laden sari. Sometimes she would wear a turquoise sari and we would go together, she would take her daughter and I to Sahaja Yoga meetings where the adults would use deep terms that were beyond our childish understanding, but we would sit through in these meeting as if we were already proclaimed small savants. Little did we know that those meetings were to lay out our lives’ foundations and put forth values that we would go by from then on. 

Meeting Shri Mataji – It felt like an amazing eternity

It all culminated with a trip to the airport one summer day in ’95. I was patiently waiting for Shri Mataji within a sea of people. The sliding doors opened and there she was, she took a step forward in front of the doors, then stopped and we locked eyes. In that moment it happened that I was exactly across from her, and it felt like an amazing eternity, all those people’s voices and excitement around us completely silenced and almost frozen in time. What I felt, there are never enough words to describe, joy, happiness, like I was floating without a care in the world. 

Meeting Shri Mataji – I had a glimpse of Shri Ganesha

And then out of nowhere between us I had a glimpse of Shri Ganesha, I did, she made sure of it.  Every time I remember my beautiful blessing Mother gave me, Shri Ganesha is always there to protect me and keep me strong. 

It’s true that lost people, upset and sad humans will always be attracted by your Sahaj presence, on a subtle level these people are being told that help is so close, and that self-realization actually once given to them can change them for life. 

Were there shadows I had to fight with in my life? All the time, unexpectedly, from within sources of nature that seemed to be the most serene but could actually try to envelop and swallow you in their energetic immaturity. That never happened because the Kundalini energy is so strong in us that sometimes we don’t realize the power it gives us.

All your confidence, positive warrior traits, helping others without any vested interest and full detachment are all traits you don’t need to try to have as they come naturally from the Kundalini energy. Self-realization is not hard to achieve, it’s all about letting go and trusting that everything we ever wanted is within us and has always been, love, joy and happiness never leave, they just need to be reawakened by raising the Kundalini energy. Trust that you are already where you want to be, only if you stop and enjoy the present.

Stop reading this for now and look around you, observe what is outside your window, how the wind blows, the sun shines and the clouds move harmoniously showing us how energies work together into one. Listen to the rain, listen to any body of water to atune yourself with the Mother Earth. Jai Shri Mataji
