Aramaic Lord’s Prayer
This gem of a translation directly from the Aramaic into English (rather than from Aramaic to Greek to Latin to English) by Mark Hathaway was published in The Cygnus Review 2003 Issue 3; of course there are many versions of the Lord’s Prayer and its essence that speaks to our heart directly from Jesus is Forgiveness; however this version is less known and it has many sahaj connections so here it is:
O cosmic birther of all radiance and vibration!
Soften the ground of our being and carve out a space within us where your presence can abide.
Fill us with your creativity so that we may be empowered to bear the fruit of our mission.
Let each of our actions bear fruit in accordance with our desire.
Endow us with the wisdom to produce and share what each being needs to grow and flourish.
Untie the tangled threads of destiny that bind us,
as we release others from the entanglements of past mistakes.
Do not let us be seduced by that which would divert us from our true purpose,
but Illuminate the opportunities of the Present Moment.
For you are the ground and the fruitful vision,
The Birth Power and the Fulfillment,
and All is gathered and made whole once again
Did you know?! The Lord’s Prayer is the most powerful mantra for Agnya chakra (in sahaja yoga meditation) and this Aramaic version of Lord’s Prayer comprises key sahaj elements related to yoga.
Some Christians (the Orthodox for example) celebrate Easter this coming Sunday and in some of these Christian traditions the eggs are boiled and painted in a variety of colours and on Easter Sunday the meals start by knocking and breaking the coloured eggs and this custom is done with the loud announcement : “Jesus Christ is risen!”. There is almost like a “contest” of knocking eggs and who breaks the most eggs that belong to others is declared “the winner”.
While exploring more on this theme: “Easter Eggs – Traditions and Symbolism” one can see that it’s always about life and death or while going even deeper in the pagan traditions the egg is associated with the spring fertility rituals. So let’s start sharing the Sahaj perspective on this interesting theme, by diving into the pure and sacred knowledge related to the Tree of Life that lies within us, where the chakras (the subtle energy centers) are the fruits that nurture our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual layers of our being.
“Birds don’t identify themselves with the Eggs
and settle down in one place.
… They Fly.”
says Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga Meditation.
Actually the 6th energy centre, Agnya chakra, known a The Third Eye, according to the sahaj knowledge about the subtle system of energy channels and centers resonates to Jesus Christ and we all are familiar with his declaration: “I am the door to …“.
Imagine that this centre actually represents the small door towards the realm of Sahasrara (7th) Chakra -
the lotus with 1000 petals, where the true yoga (union) takes place, where the microcosm and macrocosm become one and the seeker becomes whole, integrated, realized, awakened, balanced and by this, the seeker has indeed access to “the kingdom of God”.
Those that have a subtle connection with Jesus - so they are Christians inwardly, genuinely, within their subtle system by having Agnya chakra in a pure / open state – will allow to their own motherly Kundalini energy to complete its journey from the sacrum bone (underneath Mooladhara chakra) till the fontanelle bone area (“fontanelle ” literally means “small fountain” in Italian - > transparent symbol for the fountain of rebirth or eternal youth filled with the water of life).
In this way, Kundalini will spontaneously ‘break free’ through the top of the head (egg?! see the image above) and while in meditation one will enjoy that beautiful feeling of bliss and connection as a liberation from stress, anxiety and mundane worries. One indeed may experience the reality of the sahaj knowledge described below in simple words .. understanding as well the symbolism of the Easter Egg.
“I wonder how many Christians know the significance of an egg. Now egg signifies a stage where you are, before Realization. When you are in your egg shell – that you are Mr X, you are Mrs Y. But, when you mature fully inside, the bird is ready and that is the time you are hatched. This is the time you get twice-born. So, the Resurrection of Christ signifies that, and that’s why we give that egg to people, saying ‘you are that’.. an egg, a reminder of that. And this egg can become a Spirit. “ said Shri Mataji addressing to sahaja yogis during Easter 1982, London
Wishing A Happy Easter to all those that celebrate it ! (
So it is for me about “breaking open” to that presence from “within” … and then to let it fly freely like a bird.
Yesterday evening we formed a circle where we each had the opportunity to say a few words about our experience with Sahaja… One person brought up the notion of “doubt”, and mentioned how that was the beginning of an awareness of the significance of Doubt.
Here is what I feel about that thought… once we realize that we “doubt” that we may be more than what we think we are, then that doubt serves as the catalyst for moving us into the inner part of ourselves. Slowly our doubt begins to disappear as we replace that with the love of knowing that we are more than what we thought.
That doubt is simply the “fear” of not having enough, but we always have enough. Thinking that we do not have enough is about being stuck in the outer realm. We think our treasure is to be found in the external. And as we begin to unravel the pieces of our doubt then we begin to discover our treasure is much closer to home… it is within. This treasure is the “Tree of Life”, our Chakra system… it is the treasure that we seek.
So let go doubt, and find what you already have.
Thank you for being a mirror for me… as I see this message is clearly for me.
