Learn about Nabhi Chakra, Dharma and Kundalini

Let’s Learn about Nabhi Chakra, Dharma and Kundalini energy. We will Explore Wise Answers in Aboriginals’ Seeking and Primordial Taboos Reflected in Chakra Knowledge

Photo from Burlington, spring 2023.

You should learn quite a bit about the Nabhi Chakra and its connections to Sahaj Dharma , Kundalini energy and other chakras. One might wonder: Where is Kundalini energy Rising First?! What is Sahaj Dharma? This article is helpful for those that want to dive deeper into the universe of subtle knowledge that is offered by Sahaja Yoga Meditation.

Let’s Explore Wise Answers in Aboriginals’ Seeking and Primordial Taboos Reflected in Chakra Knowledge.

Swadhisthana, Nabhi, Void and Sahasrara Chakras -Working Together for our Dharma

In the summer of 2009 we had a beautiful long weekend spent in USA, in places that have a strong Native Indian footprint –  like Canajoharie. Dare to say, with really beautiful cool vibrations. This photo was taken there, near the lake and I always wanted to share it. Now it’s about the right time, because we are talking about the subtle energy centre that is the source for our innate righteousness – called Dharma in Sanskrit language.

Simply put, it is the strong sense of right and wrong that is built in and that represents the foundation for our moral values and standards expressed through religions, faiths or social laws.

Why Kundalini Energy had to reach to Nabhi Chakra First?! To Establish the Sahaj Dharma

First of all when the Kundalini rises she goes to your Void(the green circle around Nabhi chakra in the chakra system), where is [positioned] your Dharma.”And your Dharma gets established at the Nabhi Chakra, we can say around the Nabhi Chakra.

Your Dharma gets established which is the Innate Pure Universal Religion.

But then, the Kundalini rises higher. Of course it’s important because first this Chakra [Nabhi] must be fully nourished.

And this Chakra (which we know as Swadisthana) actually moves around the Nabhi Chakra.

This Swadisthana Chakra is in a way very important because it supplies energy to the brain.

So when Dharma is established, the subtler  energy pushes through the Kundalini more energy for the Sahasrara.

And also the energy for Dharma which was in the Swadisthana also starts flowing with it. Which crosses over and starts rising in the Sahasrara. Till then we are, I would say, we are not yet full Sahaja Yogis because one can become fanatic about Sahaja Yoga . 🙂 So when it reaches the state where it is established in the brain, that time we go beyond Dharma, means that Dharma becomes part and parcel of our being.

We cannot loose it. Sahaja Dharma becomes within us a part and parcel which is a very great achievement because then you don’t have to do any rituals.

You don’t have to worry that your vibrations will be harmed. Then you don’t catch from anyone, you don’t catch also other negative forces. No one can harm you. That I call as the Completion ..

At that time Sahasrara chakra is so fully enlightened that you become Dharma; Because you are in Dharma and here you are standing on the Truth.

Let’s Meditate Together on the Nabhi Chakra with a Guided Collective Meditation

Video about the Nabhi Chakra with Guided Meditation

There is so much to learn about the chakras and how they can strengthen naturally the moral fiber within our system when these energy centres receive regularly the necessary nourishment during our Sahaja Yoga meditation practice. Because Kundalini energy will flow through the energy channels and reach all these invisible but perceptible engines that regulate the wellness and balance of our whole being. Below there is a larger excerpt of sahaj knowledge that makes parallels between few pivotal incarnations that have served the humanity through its collective evolution. It is one passion I feel to share with you all: the  way this knowledge of the roots is touching all our life’s aspects, from the sacred ones (morality, faith, values, religion) to the most mundane ones (like fashion, code dress or common habits). The bronze statue above shows a North American aboriginal on a hunting expedition and we as modern seekers are similarly searching avidlyfor the Truth. Sharing same strong desire, intense attention, sense of responsibility and spontaneous reflexes (!) let’s learn, introspect and enjoy today’s fresh Sahaj knowledge trip that continues with the quote below:

Shri Mataji on Sahaj Dharma and Primordial Taboos (excerpt, 1997, Italy)

“Dharma doesn’t mean what we understand as Hinduism, Christianity or Islamic nonsense, it is not! Dharma means our primordial taboos that are built-in, in the human beings. About this, I think, Aboriginals knew better than we, but then what we did, we dominated them and also, they had to change their style of life. The primordial taboos are only understood if people are trying to understand oneself or else, whatever has come to them through tradition.
Now, Sahaj Dharma is little bit different in the sense that it’s much higher than the Sahaj Ideas that we talk of but it’s much higher than even what Shri Krishna said or Shri Rama said.

(Shri Krishna is representing the principle governing Vishuddhi chakra – the 5th energy centre) (Shri Rama was the incarnation representing the principle governing the right aspect of the Heart chakra – the 4th subtle energy centre)

“First, Shri Rama thought, best is to give them discipline. People should be serious about life, have full idea about their own being, they should respect themselves. All these things were written down long time back. Also, people, basically when they were good people, they understood that whatever is bad for us, we should not do. These are Primordial Taboos. Now, these primordial taboos are built-in within us. Now, supposing I say: “Don’t drink,” you will go and drink. If I say: “Don’t tell lies,” you will tell lies. It’s the human nature, you see, is to go against primordial taboo, because they think, now they have freedom, freedom to do what they like. You are free people. Actually they are not. They are under the spell of all the kinds of allurement you can call it or temptations which are against human life. And it’s very natural to be a person of Dharma. Small children, mostly have it. For example, I’ve seen children, they feel very shy to take out their clothes, even small, small boys, I’ve seen. They won’t take their clothes in the presence of others. They feel shy. So, all these are described like: “Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu Lajja Rupena Samstita.”

(**verse in Sanskrit about the essential qualities of the Energy of Life seen as the Primordial Mother Goddess and one of them is Modesty or ‘ The  One that is Shy’ 🙂

Explore the Differences between Shri Moses, Shri Rama and Shri Krishna

“So, you should be shy, you should be humble, and respect your body. It’s very important in these modern times, exposure of body is regarded as a great achievement of women. They are trying to become Aboriginals, you see. That time they never had these ideas and they were not so confused, you see. So, even if their woman was scantily dressed, it didn’t mean that it was some sort of a sex or some sort of an attraction for men. Or men behaving in funny manners to show that they have a special attraction for women. I mean, why should you? It is absolutely absurd that men should be attracted to women and women should be attracted to men and on the road, on the street, you go, you see, what’s that going on? But Dharma gets established as soon as you have the light of the Spirit. At the time of Shri Rama, he had to put down: A, B, C, D, E, F.

At the time of Moses also, he had to put down ten commandments, but Krishna thought the other way round: to establish a Dharma of pure love.

Shri Rama’s taboos were forced on people, just like Islamics, just like Christians, never works!

So, he (Shri Krishna) thought better to ask them in their freedom, they must develop pure love.

“All these limited type of attractions end up in troubles. Now, drinking is against (against Dharma), you know that. Today they are talking about tobacco, tomorrow they’ll talk of drinking when they will find so many people suffering from horrible livers and dying. Then they will taboo it. But it’s a natural taboo for your body. If you do something all the time which is not good for you, for your good life, you are becoming adharma.
This is to be understood very clearly that the Sahaja Dharma is that you are just free, complete freedom from lust, greed and all nonsense. You are above it. You are above this. Sahaj Dharma is above the Dharma established by Shri Krishna or by Shri Rama. Because you have reached that stage. It’s in complete freedom you have to be dharmic. Whatever is not good for you, you should not do. I don’t have to tell you that: ‘You don’t do this or you don’t do that.’ Whatever I say may not be acceptable, but immediately your vibrations will tell you. This is Sahaj Dharma.
In the Sahaj Dharma, you get rid of all kinds of… lust, anger, attractions, then… greed… Ah, that’s very important! Greed! Greed and attractions. Now, if you understand how people are greedy; greedy for what? This America is dying of consumerism, you see. Now, see the trick of the trade: in America, you can borrow any amount of money you want to the bank, no problem. Now, even if you don’t borrow, they’ll send you a letter: “Why don’t you take 20 thousand cheques, we are sending you, why not you don’t have it?” Aah! Very rich you’ll become, you see. I said: “Very nice to take the loan.” I was told some people used to come to Ganapatipule after taking loans, I said: ‘Stop that nonsense!’ So they take the loan and then they come to Ganapatipule. All the time their mind is: ‘How will I pay this loan? How will I manage?’ All the time the attention is distracted, even when you want to do something good to yourself of coming to Ganapatipule.”

** Ganapatipule is a seaside beautiful place for annual international Meditation retreats, Sahaja Yoga outdoor Seminars and Workshops.

“So, such a mind is not free. The free mind is that which has attention completely enlightened by the Spirit. But problem is, we are still rising out of this human bondage to a higher life of realization. And when we are going to that level, we have to realize that we have to give up all these shackles, all these horrible things within us. Like a bird when it is born out of the egg shakes out all the parts of the egg…they try to put you down. Now, if they are drinking, they’ll say: ‘Come along, you better have something to drink, you are not social, you are useless, you are not up-to-date.’  What is this nonsense? That’s how a fashion starts and this collective action of fashion didn’t come from Shri Krishna and not in Sahaj. In Sahaj, you are absolutely free from all these nonsense. If you want, you can wear good dress, if you don’t want you need not. You are free.
Then, we have such a collective sense of accepting nonsense. That has to be dropped out, specially in America. I was surprised, also in England. A fellow came as a hippie. So I asked him: ‘Why are you having such hair?” He said: “Because I want to be primitive. Now, we have to get to the primitiveness.’  I said: ‘But your brain is modern, what is the use of growing your hair like that? You think you can become primitive? You cannot!’ Like that I met many. ‘”But why do you do it?’ ‘Because that’s the fashion!’

“Now, Italy you know is prospering because of all kinds of designers. So there are some shops which are very expensive. Why? Because they are designers’. So you move about telling everybody: “See, I have wearing this thing from a designer shop, this is from designer shop.” That means, what about you? You have no sense of designs, you have no sense of understanding what you need and what you don’t need? And nowadays most of them are in jail also, sorry to say, but they have money and they have made money by befouling you. Specially in America I was surprised that they were selling most of the things which were coming from Italy, designs, Italian design, written Italian design, so they were buying it, Italian design. I was surprised that such artistic things they create that are available everywhere, such beautiful things. But what they built in is some sort of a group madness. Everybody wearing the same kind of design from this or that. This is not Sahaj Dharma. You are not slaves of anything. You are free people. Now, this also prevails among people who are supposed to be sadhus (like monks-beggers, in India), they all dress up the same way. How can you make out who is who? In Sahaja Yoga, we don’t want you to dress up the same way, look the same way, cut your hair the same way. No. You have to be individuals, because you are free, but .. freedom is always supported by wisdom. All kinds of funny things happen when a person doesn’t know what is the light of the Spirit. In the light of the Spirit, you don’t get involved into this kind of collective madness that is going on. We are so collective in mad things. I wish they could be collective more in wise things.”

Wisdom is very important and a joy giving quality .. has to come within us. Means when we meet another person in the collectivity, another person should feel happy with you. So he (Shri Krishna, who is representing the Lord of Collectivity and Relations) thought of the Dharma of love. :-)”

This is one of peach of Shri Mataji’s talks. As I always think, one has to be extremely fortunate to get such talks and have the wisdom too to understand in the right sense.

Many of the ancient seekers spent years together with their gurus to get such divine knowledge, we are so fortunate, we get it easily. Let’s not take this for granted, let’s work towards improving ourselves and improving the society.

Thanks for posting a woderfull message.

There are many things of great value in this article…

Firstly about Dharma… here are some quotes from Shri Mataji…

“in Sahaj you are free from all this nonsense”… this was made in reference to “these shackles” and “horrible things within us”

    Secondly, again about Dharma…

“You are not slaves to anything”… the idea is that you are free people… especially when the freedom is supported by “wisdom”.

Thirdly Shri Mataji comments at the outset on the “shyness of children”… as being an “essential quality of the energy of life”… the reference is to “modesty”… She is saying that this shyness or modesty is natural in children… “children mostly have it”… I think this is wonderful to here.

But here is my question for humanity…

Why do so many make fun of the very “shyness” that is of a divine essence in our children? Perhaps these become the “horrible things in us… those things that shackle us”… and result in our feeling that we are not free.

Truly something to think about as we begin to “awaken”

    1. twig

When people make fun of shyness, the person being made fun of will not be effected if he/she is a realized soul.

If not a realized soul, it will start reacting or introspecting towards realization, depending on the soul’s destiny.

      1. adrian

        Thank you for your comment…

And I understand what you say..

However, I would like to add…

The youngster is already a realized soul when he/she is born… yet the parent does not understand that… for the parent has already been burdened with those “shackles” Shri Mataji alluded to… and because of that the parent lacks “wisdom”… the wisdom to know that the child already “knows”.

The youngster is full of compassion toward his/her parents… and so “believes” what he/she is experiencing… because they “trust” unconditionally with their “pure divine love”. So the child takes on those new experiences of ridicule and shame as being benevolent, because they “trust” unconditionally…

What the child is missing… “perhaps” is the “wisdom” of experience, the very experience that we as adults are “free” to choose to take on “through our self realization”…

A realized parent understands that shyness, modesty and trust already abound in a child… that is their and our “innocence”… and that is why a parent takes joy in wanting to learn from the child, as does the child from the parent.

It is so true that in America, Shri Rama / Moses style of commandment does not work. All the six enemies operate at full capacity, tempting souls all the time. And building up our love, attention and joy in this atmosphere independently is the only available option.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Amanda

I’m so glad that how I acted in childhood was the right way to be! Family used to tell me off for being shy and at school I was often ridiculed for being so modest. Still, I’m feeling worried for the children/teenagers who don’t understand this point and get into trouble. We are not given the correct guidance or spiritual learning in the western schools, not at all. Its all about competition and nothing of spiritual progress. The 10 commandments are quoted but no-one can say how the primordial taboos are built within us and not just written out on tablets of stone.

    1. adrian

The children who get into trouble are simply mirroring back to themselves what they saw in others… especially their parents… so. again… if the parents are “shackled or horrible”, then that becomes their knowing.

However, if the parents had mirrored back to their children… what the children originally showed them (their innocence”… then the process of mirroring would have become “mutual”.

I believe we cannot place the responsibility on institutions such as schools, etc…

“We” must take the responsibility, by we I mean the parents… again this may require letting go of old ways of doing things… and opening the doors for the possibilities of what is… “within”

Beautifully expressed and articulated article to understand the basic concept of Dharma. It is basically the ‘higher awareness’ in human that matters and takes us to recognize the Dharma. Very thoughtful comments have been posted to qualify this particular post. Thank you all for such besutiful explanations. I would just like to add something more to what has been commented in the above comments on this article.

Human beings evolve with certain consciousness and in that consciousness we have certain awareness sometimes it becomes unique individual and at time it becomes collective.

The attributes of ‘shyness’ or ‘running away’ type attitude or ‘strict disciplinarian’ under protocol or a ‘loving-free-bird’ type attitude at the end of the day lands up in understanding our basic seeking- That is Dharma.

Like, Ioana beautifully puts the illustrative photograph to express the seeking in Aborigine. It does express that their seeking as they gradually evolved to a sophisticated human being with all modernization so their seeking also transformed his seeking. But on the contrary what Shri Mataji says it is a human tendency to do the other way. Still some of us try to imitate the old Aborigines only because we tend to announce we are free to do it.

Therefore our Self Realization with higher awareness within our collective consciousness makes us establish in our dharma. It is then we start feeling the essence of ‘Lajja’ ….. a ‘kind of shyness’ or ‘chastity’ to face becoming quite aware of our body(that is the temple of Deities and Gods inside) that needs respect and reverence and not ‘neglecting’. The aborigines never neglected it, but their seeking at that time was with limited resources. Now we have greater resources, modernization, industrialization and sophistication with up gradation in our brain activity with collective consciousness and awareness. Thus our seeking now has changed to a different level of understanding. But to understand the subtle aspect is, if our consciousness still hankers to follow what the primitive followed then we are grossly mistaken and thus live with mistaken identity as human. There we are with our stagnating freedom. We tend to scale down in our evolution rather than enjoying our awareness with higher evolutions from normal Human to super human being with sense of Self Realization.

Very interesting – I myself was a very shy child growing up. I remember friends and family commenting to my parents about how good a child I was. However, as a teenager and young adult and because of my shyness, I faced some humiliation from my peers. I remained true to myself and assertiveness worked its way into my life.

    Lots of love always.

    My humble opinion:
When the Kundalini opens our awareness to the subtle realm of divinity, the immediate reactive mind tries to reorientate itself to seek the best practicable option for it to exist as it( the mind) is faced with the very real threat of being “shut down”.The experience of self realisation triggers mind reconfiguration that changes the perception of “truth”, “reality”, “illusion”, – all abstract functions that cummulatively form the basis of defining “I am this” mindset. For the first time, we experience an awareness of ourselves that is different from the norm. Our subtle Dharma or principles immaterial of whether we are spiritually oriented or not, is affected. Whilst shunning the shyness or innocence as a “childish ” attribute not meant for adults, the Kundalini presents the consciousness with this light to reexamine its baseline – something it has never done since birth perhaps and slowly develops the “mental comfort” that these eternal values are “okay” to exist in the present realm and is not a threat to its existence. When this is further supported by the many lovely experiences that become registered in the consciousness as the individual practices Sahaj it re-establishes the new found values or Dharma as the “norm” and then moves towards seeking more of this new found nourishment, although it has actually been there all the time but the conditioning of ages due to external reactive factors has made these these values elusive as mankind carries existentialism to the opposite end of the awareness spectra.

I liked this, very informative. Thank you.

Shri Mataji’s quote with her smiling picture states….

“Nothing is more important for me than to see where you all rise to the level where you understand your own values”.

This reminds me of another simple quote…

“Know thyself Man and Nothing Excess”…

These words were written on the Temple of Apollo at Delphi in Greece several thousand years ago.

Such simple thoughts with different words yet similar meaning.

    Enjoy

Thank you for sharing this lecture where Shri Mataji points out some nonsensical things in  North America (where i live) which prevent us from being truly free… always a pleasure to read (Her words), in addition to watching videos…
