Super-Moon & Harvest Moon on September 8th, 2014

SuperMoon- Stu

Did you know? The full Moon nearest the autumnal equinox is called the Harvest Moon (it falls this year on September 8). This Moon is not just the full Moon that occurs at the time of the harvest. It is the full Moon that actually helps the harvest by providing more light at the right time than other full Moons do. However, for a yogi(ni) that is knowledgeable and tuned to his/her chakras, it is important to be aware of the moon’s subtle influence: positive or negative, depending on the moon phase and on one’s own imbalances.

The Spiritual Influence of the Moon on Chakras

Photo captured by a sahaja yogi – the sky seems to be like a portrait of Shri Mataji                                       or Mother Mary on the moon – so inspiring for meditation

First thing to note is that on the night of new-moon and full-moon, always there are dangers on your left (the moon subtle channel on the left side) and right sides (the solar subtle channel). Specially on these two days, that is, the nights of new moon and full moon, you should sleep early. After your meals, bow before the photograph, meditate, and putting attention in Sahasrara, sleep after getting into the bandhan. That means you go into the unconscious the very moment your attention goes to Sahasrara. There, do yourself the bandhan and you are saved. During these two nights particularly.

Spiritual effect of the Moon

The night of new moon, you should meditate on Shri Shiva (the principle that governs the left Heart Chakra). You should sleep after meditating on Shri Shiva – that is the Spirit – and surrender yourself to Him.

On the night of full moon, you should meditate on Shri Rama (the principle that governs the left Right Heart Chakra) and surrender yourself to Him for protection. The meaning of the word Ramchandra is “Creativity”. You should completely dedicate your creative powers to Him.

Thus you have to take special care of yourself on these two days.

However on the seventh and ninth days of Lunar fortnights (according to the Indian Calendar “saptami” and “navami”) you have my special blessings. Do remember that you are getting specially these blessings from me on these two days. Make some special arrangements so that you can have good meditation on these days. This is how you should protect yourself. And whenever you are leaving your house give yourself the bandhan; always be in the bandhan..”

(Shri Mataji – founder of Sahaja Yoga, Advices, Mumbai 1976)

“All things are perishable, one has to go with something not perishable. Desire is much more subtler than the action itself. Like the Moon affects even the sea, even Surya – the Sun, is very important. But why the Moon is important because it makes you subtler. Right-sided people must achieve the Moon. After getting Realization, if you can see the abstract form of God and then we say after reaching your Brahmarandra (the centre of  the crown chakra), you crossover your limbic area and then you go to Aardh Bindu. Aardh Bindu is the Moon. Moon is the Spirit. Sun is the working part. He works and it reflects on the Moon. So you become the spectator yourself and start going into that…Where is our ascent is the main point. When it is the sixteen phase it’s a complete phase. So fifteen phases are the fifteen steps of consciousness on which human beings really built, fifteenth is the Spirit and sixteenth is God, which is only Absolute state. There are fourteen types of joys which you get out of this. And you cannot have a Havana on a Saptami (during Navrarta ).

The Koran about Mother Mary’s Birthday

Did you know? The birth of Mother Mary (known as Mar?am in Arabic) is narrated in Qur’an with references to her father Imran, after whom the chapter is named, as well as her mother, Hannah. Hannah prayed to God to fulfill her desire to have a child and vowed, if her prayer was accepted, that her child (whom she initially thought would be male) would be dedicated to the service of God.

“Al-Baidhawi adds that Imram’s wife was barren and advanced in age. One day she saw a bird feeding her young and so she herself longed for an offspring. She prayed to God for a child and promised to present it to the Temple at Jerusalem. God heard her prayer and she gave birth to Mary. (Abdul-Haqq, p. 47)

She prayed for her child to remain protected from Satan and Muslim tradition records a hadith (- saying considered to be from Prophet Mohamed directly), which states  “Every child is touched by the devil as soon as he is born and this contact makes him cry. Excepted are Mary and her Son”.

Less known is the fact that in the Koran the Virgin Mary occupies a significant and unique  position compared to other spiritual personalities/prophets that are mentioned; also she is the only woman mentioned by name in the entire Quran. There are about thirty-four direct or indirect references, all most respectful towards Mother Mary , and Sura XIX  takes upon Her name and becomes its central figure as the mother of Jesus. Actually in the Koran and in the Islamic tradition provides more details and miracles that in the four (main) Christian Gospels. Of the Quran’s 114 suras, she is among only eight people who have a chapter named after them (Chapter 19/Sura XIX). Apropcryphal Protoevangelium of James the Less on Birth of Virgin Mary:

And having gazed fixedly into the sky Anna saw a nest of sparrows in the bay tree, and she made lamentation in herself saying, “Woe is me! to what am I likened? I am not likened to the birds of the air, for even the birds are productive in the sight of the Lord!” … And lo! an angel of the Lord stood by saying unto her, “Anna! Anna! the Lord God hath hearkened unto thy petition, thou shalt conceive and shall bear, and thy seed shall be spoken of in all the world.” But Anna said, “As the Lord my God liveth, if I bear either male or female, I shall offer it as a gift unto the Lord my God, and it shall continue to do Him service all the days of its life.” Anna brought forth…And she gave breast to the child and called her Mary. Mother Mary’s Subtle Role in the Yoga Evolutionary System (Chakra/Energy channels)

Auderville_Parish_Church_Saint_Gilles_Nave_Painting_Nativity_of_Mary_2010_08_30

“Today is a great day when we are celebrating Mahalakshmi’s Puja (veneration of the principle of evolution – flowing around the central channel/’Sushumna nadi’ in Sanskrit). You must be knowing that today is the day of Mary, the mother of Christ, who was Mahalakshmi. Mahalakshmi’s incarnation is very important for Sahaja Yoga. First She establishes our dharma by which we become righteous. We become religious in the real sense. After the light of realization we cannot do anything that is not dharma. As you know what is dharma is, and the maryadas, the boundaries of our behavior, this transformation takes place automatically. I don’t have to tell you, “Don’t do this, don’t do this,” like ten commandments. You, yourself, establish your dharma and you enjoy your virtues. This happens, as you know already has happened to all of you with the grace of Mahalakshmi, then She starts bestowing blessings on you. … I am so happy today we are here to celebrate Mahalakshmi principle at the time of Mother Mary’s birth. She passed through the greatest ordeal to see Her son being crucified but She knew what was the purpose of His crucifixion and She accepted. “

(the above is an excerpt from the talk offered by Shri Mataji – yoga master born in Christian religion – to an international yoga seminar dedicated to Shri Mahalakshmi principle,  with the occasion of Mother Mary’s Birthday celebrated in Sofia (Bulgaria) on September 8th, 1993)

And so today we remember Her great incarnation as Maria (Mary), who was very great because She had to bear terrible pain within Her heart with all Her powers that She had. She was a tremendously powerful Lady. But despite that, She bore all the tortures of Christ upon Her heart, and it was Her order, and Her desire that Christ has to crucify Himself, so that people could be resurrected. …”

Anant Chaturdashi Day -> Asking  for Forgiveness & Shri Ganesha in the Water

fullmoon=1

On September 8, 2014 it is also celebrated the Anant Chaturdashi festival performed by Jain and Hindus.Ganesha small

Actually, the Jains ask for forgiveness for any mistakes they have made intentionally or otherwise. We all know that The Lord’s Prayer that Christians recite  is about the same. How beautiful  is to dedicate an entire day for meditating on one’s mistakes and even more on acknowledging them. The sahaj touch will be, to ensure that we ask genuinely for forgiveness, without feeling guilty and without obsessing about the past. Let’s hear from Shri Mataji what is the symbolism and the true spiritual significance of this day (as Hindu are celebrating it) from the excerpt provided below – from  Shri Mataji’s lecture on Guru Principle, delivered on Anant Chaturdashi day in Houston, 1983:

“Today? Anant chaturdashi is the day when we ‘visarjan’dissolve Shri Ganesha (clay made statues)  in the water.  Because He’s established for ten days and after ten days, He’s born on the fourth, after ten days He’s dissolved in the water so that everywhere His Power is spread through the water. That’s why no wonder there was a puja.  Ganesha settled down into the water. That is Ananta Chaturdashi. Ananta is Shri Ganesha. Ananta means which cannot be destroyed. Innocence cannot be destroyed. And that is why is the Ganesh Chaturdashi means the day when Ganesha is dissolved in the water, in the ocean or He is created, worshiped for ten days and again given back. So it’s a very great day today, I should say, like the resurrection of Christ that you are, you had Christ here, He lived with you, and then went back to His Father. Father is the ocean and that’s what in India they do, establish Him on the fourth day and on the tenth day they put Him back to the ocean.”
As one could notice, today is simply another spiritual day, that so beautifully is celebrated in many religions – they all ultimately venerate the Innocence and its various Incarnations and representations. Shri Ganesha is also the Child of God and God child and in sahaja yoga, we know that the principle of the eternal child that governs the Root Chakra will evolve (in a way) and incarnate as Jesus Christ – who resides in all human beings within their “third Eye chakra”- the Agnya chakra. It is therefore fundamental to awaken our Innocence, establish it within us and then allow it to dissolve, permeate in all aspects of our lives and everywhere in our society and in our communities. Ultimately it will shine – as the pure Spirit, as the Super Moon – watching over our individual and collective spiritual harvest.
We hope you had enjoyed this article, have gained some knowledge and had vibrated in unison with the beautiful music videos and the images.

so enlightening. This is what I love about Sahaja Yoga and this website. Each precious day we live has an importance and through this website and Shri Mataji’s teachings, we are enlightened with the depth of knowledge on each special day and how it is to be fully lived – what to work on in our subtle system to make the most out of our meditations.

Thank you Mother Mary for your big sacrifice. For bringing Jesus Christ -who is embodiment of purity and innocence into this dark filthy world to die for ignorant human beings for humanity’s sake. Namo Namo Maria. Again and again.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, in the website:
    https://sites.google.com/site/ridavindra/
you can find Sahaj poetry. Most of these poems have been written after a public program or a puja with Shri Mataji, in the bus or in the car when driving home. They were written under the direct inspiration of Shri Mataji. They were mostly written in fifteen to twenty minutes. It was as if they were dictated to me. So, they are not mine, but Shri Mataji’s. Therefore I would like them to be read by
as many yogis as possible. I received them for free,
so they can be copied and sent to other yogis freely. In the left column you will find the title of every poem. If you click on it, the poem will appear on your screen.

    MURMURING SOULS

Be Aware: Gossip is a Common Disease
    “But then they (ladies)
will create problems, talk ill, gossip.
I am surprised, even in Sahaja Yoga, we have many women who just go on gossiping, their style was gossiping. Because I am talking about Lakshmi and Mahalakshmi, I have to go on the women, because they are the ones who will create the great principles, the great symbols of Lakshmi (the subtle energy for the Nabhi chakra) and Mahalakshmi (the power for the subtle center channel – the Sushumna Nadi). So the gossiping is a very common disease.“… Shri Mataji

Roddel is zoals pluisjes van een paardenbloem. Gossip is like bits of a dandelion.
Je blaast ze weg. Ze verspreiden zich en je kunt You blow them away and they spread out
ze nooit meer opnieuw verzamelen : ze gaan and you can never assemble them again: they
een eigen leven leiden ! will lead an own life !
Sommige roddels komen nochtans als een And some gossip will come back to the sender
boemerang terug bij de zender. as a boomerang.

  9. Sandra

Thank you Ioana, a brilliant compilation of Sahaja knowledge, for us to feel the love, vibrations and joy: the Truth. Yours, Sandra

  10. Rosalba

Great, but I am not sure if it is good for us to watch supermoons or and blood moons

    1. Ioana

Hi Rosalba, thank you, indeed you made a great point!! and if one goes through the entire article, there is sahaj knowledge that is really helpful- however, there is no recommendation for “watching” a type of the moon or the other 🙂 as that’s for everyone to decide; there are tips for introspection too .. so there is kind of like a “free will exercise” and “hints for introspection”: “Do I have a balanced left energy channel or I am more of an over-active person?!” .. .

Either way, as it is explained a bit in the article, these “big names” are still referring to a full moon and there is precise knowledge from sahaja yoga that explains the difference between full moon and new moon and each one’s influence on the subtle system .. Of course, watching the sky, watching a beautiful moon and making a great “blood moon” photo once in a while is still “cool” and open’s one’s heart towards Mother Nature, Father Sky and towards the divine’s amazing creativity. Glad that you’ve enjoyed the article and thank you for posting! More articles will come and we encourage sincere opinions, experiences and why not, even discussions 🙂 Everyone will benefit from this open dialogue.

Thank you Ioana for sharing this knowledge and especially the video of The Ode Alla Madre Maria Mahalakshmi the music was magnificent 🙂

    Love

    I am seeing
    the reflection within…
    when the moon mirrors back
    the “Light” of myself…

    Gossip is without clarity
    there is only darkness…

    The moon moves closer
    Seeing more clearly…
The Light, to “Know Thy Self”
    from Love… with Love.

  13. Beverley

I enjoyed being reminded of Mother Mary, her birth and the special place that she is given in the historical writings, at a time in history when the role of women was not held with much regards.

The orchestra performance including the non-traditional musical instrument was uplifting and spiritually empowering.

  14. Ioana

From New Zealand – from a supportive reader that heard about our article from a what’s up group:

This is an amazing article – thank you for being a beautiful instrument in sharing Mother’s Treasure House of Knowledge.. Incredible vibrations in the music and also amazing vibrations from Adrian’s poem.. Thank You Shri Mataji

  15. Anjali

Such profound connections are made on this article about the Moon, Ganesha, Mother Mary’s birth – all wrapped up with beautiful special photos/portraits and the uplifting musical composition:Ode Alla Madre Maria Mahalakshmi. just last week it was the full moon and we had discussed about the significance of the full moon briefly at the end of our online meditation…since then I was “passively” trying to find out other insights Shri Mataji had shared about the moon and voila! I found it here on this article. The moon represents the spirit and makes you a subtler person! Thank you for this beautiful compilation 🙂

  16. Jolanta

Beautiful Music! In the video, Shri Mataji explains that Kundalini is our individual Mother whose awakening helps us to improve our lives and become truly religious (righteous), and drop harmful habits. Shri Mataji guides the audience through self realization and Her instructions are translated into Portuguese. Thank you for this article Ioana!
